Originally a small fishing village, Moraira has grown into an ideal holiday retreat of perfect proportions, retaining much of its original character and atmosphere. It has attractive and colourful main streets, a picturesque Marina and wonderful blue flag sandy beaches. The choice of restaurants and bars are just too many to sample in one holiday. There are seven recommended by Michelin (three with stars) and a huge variety of others to suit all budgets. The combination of terraced vineyards, wonderful mountains and blue sea, combine to make this an area of spectacular beauty.

Thankfully, the local authority has jealously guarded the appearance of Moraira, which has prevented the over-developed characteristics of other Spanish resorts. There are no high rise holiday hotels here. In fact, there are no package holiday hotels here at all. Instead, beautiful private villas and 'pueblo style' developments line the slopes of the valley, which gently decline towards the beach and town. This dictates to a degree, the type of holidaymaker found in Moraira. Those attracted to this resort, tend to be family units, using or renting privately owned villas.

Beaches Moraira
The character of the coastline, with its stunning cliffs and dramatic headlands, means that the beaches are mainly small coves and bays. The largest beach, Ampolla, is situated right at the centre of the town. With its shallow waters, white sands, children's play area and volleyball court, it is perfect for families. The delightful Portet beach lies in a bay, to the left of the marina, and is just as popular with families. The two bar/restaurants here are famous for excellent lunches and fabulous sundowners. All the beaches along this part of the coast have been awarded an EEC Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Activities Moraira
If the beach isn't your thing, then there are plenty of other things to do. That is, assuming you can pull yourself away from your luxury villa!
The local shops and night market offer a really excellent choice of quality clothes, gifts and keepsakes. There is a fairground, especially suitable for young children, a fabulous Go Karting circuit, for all ages, a tennis club and three nightclubs. Also nearby are three golf courses, horse riding, and water sports centres.
The larger resorts of Javea, Denia and Calpe are all within a half hour drive. Benidorm is also well within reach. Here you will find all the children's favourites- Terra Mítica Theme park, Aqualandia Water Park and Mundomar Animal Kingdom, with its world famous dolphin show.
If countryside and mountain tops are what you seek, then within 40 minutes you can be witnessing the breathtaking views at Guadalest or at the summit of the Sierra Bernia. Also, in just over one hour, you could be in Valencia, Spain's beautiful underestimated 3rd city.

Fiestas Moraira
Moraira, like many Spanish towns, hosts many different fiestas throughout the year. The most famous is the 'Moors and Christians' festival, usually held over the 3rd weekend in June. The elaborate customs and parades are a real spectacle. You will be astonished that a small town such as this, can stage such a grand and marvelous event. The Patron Saint fiestas in July are colourful and noisy, and culminate in a huge, spectacular firework display. There are many other towns fiestas during the year, too many to mention here. ABOUT THE COSTA BLANCA
Either named after the white almond blossoms seen in January and February, or the beautiful white sandy beaches along its 200km coastline from Denia in the north to Torrevieja in the south, the Costa Blanca is one of the most beautiful coastal regions in Spain.

The Northern Costa Blanca from Denia to Alicante is mountainous and green. It is peppered with orange groves and olive trees, with colourful orchards of almonds and cherries. There are cliffs and coves and a mixture of sandy and pebble beaches.
The Southern region from Alicante to Torrevieja is much drier and flatter with fine sandy beaches, palm trees and salt flats.

Not as cold in winter as the Costa Brava to the north or as hot and humid in the summer as the Costa del Sol to the south, the Costa Blanca enjoys more that 315 days of sunshine a year. With temperatures ranging from 19c in winter to 28c in the summer the region is considered by the World Health Organisation to have the most beneficial climate in Europe.
The attraction of the region also lies in its natural beauty and its diversity - the amazing vivid blue Mediterranean waters, the marinas, the lovely sandy beaches, the old towns and villages with narrow streets where time has stood still and the restaurants and bars where one can relax outside all year round. It is a paradise for golfers, yachtsmen and sun worshippers, for gourmets and party-goers alike. The spectacular views, the noise of a Tapas bar and the tranquility of the national park all stimulate the senses.

With people from every walk of life, the Island both caters for and welcomes all kinds! Ibiza Island is situated in the Balearic archipel. This is the third island in term of surface after Mallorca and Minorca. Ibiza surface is 543 22 km² with 209 km of coastline. The population of the island is 77 000 inhabitants. Well known for it night activities, Ibiza is also a wonderful island, with emeralds beaches, and an always blue sky (more than 305 days of sunshine per year). The story of Ibiza begins in 1600 years before Jesus Christ, although it is not chronologically referenced before the year 654 when Carthage create Ibosim, today named Eivissa, capital of the Island. It is Diodoro Siculo who supplies us the first text reference about the island: "... Having been named Sardinia first, the island was called Pitiusa, due to the number of pines on it..." After the Carthaginian time comes the Roman domination. During this period Ibiza carries the title of Confederate City. The next five centuries are called dark centuries due to the information left. The island was controlled by the Barbarians and the Byzantine until the year 711 when Arabic land on the Island and call it Yebisah. The historic date for the island is August 8th 1235, date of the Catalan conquest. At this moment the islands of Ibiza and Formentera join the western world. Note that during centuries Ibiza was a meeting point for the Saracen vessels which ravaged the Mediterranean Sea, protected by the Turkish squadron. It is during these times that the towers which surround the island and the aspect of fortress of the rural churches were built. Today, the Island of Ibiza is divided into five provinces: Eivissa the capital; Santa Eulària, Sant Antoni, Saint Joan and Sant. Josep.
